Will Rogers and Wiley Post Commemorative Lamp Base


Will Rogers, cowboy, vaudevillian rope twirler, actor, author, radio and newspaper commentator, has long been regarded as an American icon. His insightful and pointed observations and comments of the American political and social scene endeared him to almost everyone. Rogers was an early and enthusiastic booster of airplane travel. He made several long distance flights before he died in a plane crash near Point Barrow, Alaska in 1935. Well known aviator Wiley Post was also killed in the crash. Click to see back of lamp This fabulous pot metal lamp base commemorates that historic flight. The sculpted faces of Rogers and Post appear on a globe with the ill fated plane at the top.
