Will Rogers and Wiley Post Commemorative Lamp Base
Will Rogers, cowboy, vaudevillian rope twirler, actor, author,
radio and newspaper commentator, has long been regarded as an
American icon. His insightful and pointed observations and comments
of the American political and social scene endeared him to almost
everyone. Rogers was an early and enthusiastic booster of airplane
travel. He made several long distance flights before he died in
a plane crash near Point Barrow, Alaska in 1935. Well known aviator
Wiley Post was also killed in the crash. Click to see back of lamp
This fabulous pot metal lamp base commemorates that historic flight.
