Rose O'Neill Kewpie Advertising Signs for Hendlers Ice Cream
Hendlers Ice Cream used a Kewpie on many of their paper advertising
signs promoting their ice cream and ice cream novelties. The tie
in between the well known Kewpie and Hendlers was strongest in
their version of an ice cream sandwich named the Kewpie Pie. These
paper signs were most frequently taped on windows, doors or mirrors
over the fountain in candy stores and ice cream parlors. All feature
the company logo and motto "Hendlers Ice Cream - The Velvet
Kind." We believe they date from the 1940s or 1950s when
ice cream cones and sandwiches were still only a dime.

18" wide x 8.5" high. Upper left corner fold, slight

Kewpie Pie Ice Cream and Cake Wafers 10 cents Yellow
and white stripes, blue outlined Kewpie and Hendlers logo in lower
right corner. 8.5" wide x 17.25" long. Small tear on

Black Raspberry First name in ice cream for over a
half-century. An appealing dish of Black Raspberry Ice Cream is
featured. A pink Kewpie is enjoying a spoonful of the ice cream.
Hendlers logo is fairly large and prominent in the center of the
sign. 20" wide x 9" high. Very nice condition. (Stock
