Souvenir Tinsel Embroidery Ribbon - Davis Sewing Machines
The Davis Sewing Machine company was a frequent exhibitor
at expostions beginning in the 1860's. We believe that this ribbon
may have been a souvenir of the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exposition
or the 1893 Chicago Columbian Exposition. Ribbons were made, in
this case embroidered, on the sewing machines on display at the
World's Fair. Tinsel embroidery was very popular because of the
interesting texture, the metalic thread and the three dimensional
effect that could be created. This piece was made on the
Davis Sewing Machine. It measures 3" wide x 8" high.
It is in excellent condition. (Stock number 003DavisSewing) SOLD
