Scribner's Magazine Illustrated, one of this country's premier literary and art magazines, began publishing in the 19th Century. Fiction, poetry, and articles of political and historical interest were penned by many well known authors and politicians. The accompanying drawings were done by the most talented illustrators and artists of the time.

Bound Volume X covers the period July-December 1891. It features several ocean steamship articles, an engineers view of Hayti (Haiti) and an article on starting a parliament in Japan. It also includes stories illustrated by A. B. Frost, Howard Pyle, and Kenyon Cox.
