Soapstone Desk Accessory - Century of Progress 1933

1933 Chicago World's Fair "Century of Progress."
Elaborately carved soapstone desk accessory. This is one of
the more unusual souvenirs from the Chicago Century of Progress
World's Fair in 1933 that we have encountered. A block of soapstone
has been carved into a miniature garden scene complete with urns
of flowers and singing birds. There are three compartments in
the top, presumably for pens, letter opener and scissors. It is
etched "Chicago World's Fair 1934". It measures 6"
long x 3" high x 2" deep. There are several chips inside
the compartments and a crack in the back, none of which is visible
from the front. (Stock number 003wf33Soap) $100.00
