Centennial Newspapers - Philadelphia Exposition 1876
The "Centennial Gazette" and "Centennial and
Journal of the Exposition" were published with the objective
of providing comprehensive information about the Centennial Exposition
and other Philadelphia attractions to visitors and other interested
people. Included were articles on the exhibitions themselves,
foreign dignitaries attending the event as well as poetry, fiction,
and engaging news articles. The newspapers were comprised of one
large sheet folded in quarters to produce eight pages. The "Centennial
Gazette" was published weekly and monthly and remained in
print after the close of the Exposition as a National and Literary
Family Newspaper. "Centennial and Journal of the Exposition"
was published monthly.
