1940 New York World's Fair Poster - Polygraphic Co. of America
The New York World's Fair of 1940, carried over from 1939,
came about at the end of the Great Depression. Despite ominous
rumblings in Europe, most Americans believed they had put the
worst of the decade behind them. This colorful 1940 New York World's
Fair poster created by the Polygraphic Co. of America (artist
unknown) juxtaposes the image of George Washington, inaugurated
in 1789, 150 years earlier, with the flags of several nations.
The text reads "For Peace and Freedom" and illustrates
the optimism and confidence the fair represented. The poster is
framed and matted. The frame measures 17.25" x 24",
the view is 19" x 12.25". The poster appears to be in
excellent condition. A fine example of a Fair souvenir that is
increasingly hard to find. (Stock number 003wf39-0326TC) $500.00
