Drugstore Movie Window Cards - Shea's Theaters - Buffalo,
NY
When new pictures were about to open drugstores, newsstands,
and candy stores were provided with movie window cards. Each card
included the title of the film, the leading stars and a small
black and white picture of them as well as the theatre where it
would be shown. It also encouraged people to catch up on the latest
Hollywood gossip by purchasing movie magazines on sale at the
store. This small selection of cards comes from the Shea's Theatres
in Buffalo, New York. We have been told that one of these theaters
still exists. These films, from 1947 and 1948, featured many well
known actors and actresses. Each is printed on cardboard and measures
11" wide x 14" high. There are some tack holes and one
shows signs of slight water damage but are otherwise in nice condition.
