Vintage Cigar Bundle Ribbons
In the 19th and early twentieth centuries, many cigars were
not sold in boxes but were sold in bundles of twenty-five or fifty
cigars . Each of these bundles was wrapped with a ribbon bearing
the brand name. Like most packaging these ribbons would have made
it to the fireplace or the dump if the wives and daughters of
cigar smokers had not saved these ribbons for use in handicrafts.
From time to time we encounter pillow covers, tablecloths and
even blankets made of these ribbons. The ribbons range in width
from 1/2" to 1" and are 12" to 14" long. These
examples are in very good - fine condition, though they might
need ironing. We do have multiples on some of these. Priced as
marked. (Stock number 003cigarrib)
