John H. "Jack" Garo Special Issue of The Camera
1915
The Camera Magazine published in Philadelphia was an influential
publication in the still new photographic art in the early twentieth
century. The April 1915 issue was a tribute to the Boston portrait
photographer John H. "Jack" Garo. In this day Garo is
probably best known as the teacher and mentor of Yousef Karsh.
This special issue includes an appreciation. of Garo and his work
by Sidney Allan and reproductions of 13 of Garo's photographs.
His profund influence on Karsh and other portrait photographers
is evident from these examples of his work. (Stock number 003phGaro)
