"Gem" Cigarette Trade Stimulator

Trade stimulators were essentially countertop gambling devices
that "paid off" in cigarettes. They were developed by
manufacturers to encourage store patrons to take a chance and
then be rewarded with their product. This was a direct and inexpensive
way to get cigarette smokers to switch brands. The brands on the
wheel included Lucky Strike, Fatima, Camel, and Old Gold. Judging
by the brands in this "Gem" machine we estimate that
it was in use in the 1930's. This device is not in working order.
Since it is a very simple mechanical device it could easily be
restored to working condition. There is no back plate. The machine
measures 12" tall x 8" wide x 8" depth. (Stock
number 003Gem) $350.00
