
Radio Orphan Annie Premiums
Little Orphan Annie was created by the cartoonist Harold Gray
(1894-1968). She appeared in the comics pages from 1924 until
Gray's death. The radio serial on NBC that was spun off from the
strip ran from 1931 to 1942. The show was sponsored by Ovaltine
until 1940 and then by Quaker Puffed Wheat and Rice Sparkles.
An enormous river of premiums were issued for the program by its
sponsors.
