Rare Large Size Tobacco Leather - Indian Chief
Large format leather premium. Perhaps for use as pillow tops
these leathers were issued by the American Tobacco Company in
the first decade of the 20th century as a premium for coupons
on Turkish Trophies and other cigarettes. This large (approx.
32" x 36") leather depicts an American Indian Chief.
Burdick, in the American Card Catalog, describes this series as
extremely rare and can only verify their existence based upon
their listing on a coupon back. This item suffers from some fading,
holes, and torn pieces. The leather has dried out somewhat. The
flaws do not detract from the central image, a Native American
in full headdress with claw necklace. This example would make
an excellent framed display. (Stock number 003leather4) SOLD
