William McKinley Campaign Plate
William McKinley, the twenty-fifth president of the United
States, ran on a platform of tariff protection and opposition
to free silver. Under his administration after the Spanish-American
War (1898) the United States acquired Cuba, Puerto Rico, Guam,
the Philippines, annexed Hawaii, Wake Island and Samoa. He was
elected to two terms, 1896 and 1900. He was assassinated by Leon
Czolgosz, an anarchist, while attending the Pan-American exposition
in Buffalo in 1901. The plate is in excellent condition with no
chips or cracks. 8.5" diameter. (Stock number 003McKinley1)

The plate had been broken into three pieces which were then glued
back together. There is extensive crazing and staining. (Stock
