Tin Plug Tobacco Tag Poster
The plug tobacco tag was an early means of establishing brand
identity in a commodity market. A small lithographed tin label
with sharp points was pressed into each portion of plug tobacco.
Easily produced, there were thousands of brands of plug tobacco
in the nineteen century. This remarkable 18" x 26" poster
displays several hundred of the thousands of tags in the 30 year
collection of Bill Pollard of Aldie, Virginia. Subjects include
die cut animals, blacks, politicals, railroads, beverages and
the wide gamut of other attractive designs. (Stock number 070tagposter)
