Artist Designed Glass by Kosta Boda of Sweden
The master craftsmen of Kosta Boda, which was born in Sweden
in 1742, continue to produce some of the most original and fanciful
art glass available today. The pieces express the individual creativity
and spontaneity of the designer. The artist's strong personalities
can be seen in the variety of designs, use of color and sense
of humor. We have been fortunate to have acquired two vases from
the Fossil Series. These were designed by Kjell Engman who was
born in Stockholm in 1946 and has been a Kosta Boda designer since
1978. He aims to paint a picture as well as tell a story through
the medium of glass. The vases in this series have a very natural
rock like appearance in which a fossil is imprinted. The mysterious
image at first mystifies and then invites curiosity. This intriguing
group of vases has an enigmatic quality that will continue to
delight and intrigue.
