
19th Century Sewing Chatelaine
In the 19th Century women of means could combine the practical
with the decorative in the form of a chatelaine. No need to rummage
through draws or sewing boxes, necessary tools and implements
were always right at hand. Our ornate gilt brass sewing chatelaine,
circa 1860's, includes a pair of scissors, a tape measure and
a small mesh purse. The three appendages are all original. There
is minor loss of gilt but altogether it is a splendid piece. Scissors
