Turtle Decoys

When we encountered these intriquing figures we weren't exactly sure what they were. We were told they were turtle decoys, with some age and possibly from the Carribean. How they got to New England is a mystery. We don't even want to think about what they did to the live turtles of this size once they were caught. But the decoys, distant in time and space from reality, make interesting conversation pieces. For crudely constructed pieces they are remarkably expressive. They are wooden and show the "driftwood effect" as a result of having spent a considerable amount of time in the water. They measure approximately 28" in length and 8" in width. One has its original rope. Your choice $100.00 each (Stock number 002turtle)
