1880's Theater Poster of Actress Pauline Hall
Pauline Hall Theater Poster. Miss Pauline Hall, born
in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1865 rose from an obscure role in the chorus
to a prominent position on the stage of the American theater in
the late 19th and early 20th centuries. She left school at 14
to go into the theater. Not satisfied with her successes in Ohio
she headed for the New York stage where her beautiful voice and
charming personality won her the acclaim she sought. She formed
her own theater company, toured the major cities of Europe, and
appeared in vaudeville and the Ziegfeld Follies. She died in
1920. Her image appeared on several series of tobacco cards in
the 19th century featuring prominent actors and actresses of the
day. We believe this theater poster had the name of the play
and/or the venue attached by paste to the picture of Miss Hall.
The poster is in rough condition with paper loss, creases, tears
and water stains. Still it is a wonderful image and an interesting
piece of early theater memorabilia. 28" x 42" (Stock
number 00PaulineHall) $300.00
