Superb Chalkware Parian Style Figure

This charming Victorian chalk figure was fashioned with the intricate detail and modeling that you would expect in a fine piece of parian or Staffordshire. We know that Italian sculptors excelled in chalkware carvings of religious subjects. Since the piece is not marked in any way we cannot be certain of its origin. However, the figure does wear a cross and as the workmanship is exceptional we would guess that it was made in Italy or by an Italian immigrant in the latter part of the 19th century. The figure is approximately 6.5" tall and 4" wide. Soiling, minor chips, repair to the tree. (Stock number 002pt1009a) $80.00
