Maria Longworth Nichols Signed Rookwood Vase
An extraordinary limoge type vase by the founder of Rookwood
Pottery - Maria Longworth Nichols. On one side of this uniquely
shaped piece spiders crawl through a beige and swirling brown
landscape highlighted with gold. On the reverse bats soar through
the same hazy vista. This rare piece is typical of the artist's
work. The base is stamped "Rookwood" and "1882"
and signed with the artist's initials MLN. Click to see base
The vase measures 4" wide x 4.25" high x 1.5" deep.
The glaze is crazed. An edge chip at the top .5" long by
.25" deep has been professionally restored. (Stock number
