400th Anniversary of Shakespeare's Birth Commemorative Plates
These six decorative plates were created in 1964 for an exhibition
commemorating the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's birth in
1564. They each portray a character from a Shakespearean play.
Unfortunately, other than Queen Elizabeth, we were unable to decipher
the stylized script. The figure is done in green on a white background
with green, yellow and orange accents. 9" diameter. The
plates are marked Lidor Ltd., Purley, Surrey, England and Holkham
Pottery Ltd., Norfolk, England. Some light crazing but no chips
or cracks. (Stock number 002shakesplates) $150.00 for the six.
