GI Joe: The Naval Battle of Guadalcanal
From August to November 1942 devastating battles took place
on Guadalcanal, a strategic island in the Pacific. American and
Japanese ships pounded each other mercilessly sustaining heavy
losses on both sides. While many battles lay ahead, now the balance
of power in the Pacific shifted toward the Allies. Life Magazine
was there to chronicle the major battles of World War II. Now
Life Magazine and GI Joe have joined forces to recreate and honor
the men who fought at The Naval Battle of Guadalcanal. A 12"
GI Joe is completely outfitted for battle. There is also a miniature
replica of Life Magazine from February 1, 1943. The doll has
