Edgar Bergen's Charlie McCarthy & Mortimer Snerd Ventriloquist's
Dummies
Edgar Bergen and his dummy Charlie McCarthy
provided audiences with decades of humor. Starting in vaudeville
then moving on to radio and eventually television the irascible
Charlie feuded and flirted with celebrities. Mortimer Snerd
joined the show in 1939. Charlie and Mortimer retained their
charm and attraction long after the death of Edgar Bergen in 1978.
Our later version of the Charlie McCarthy ventriloquist dummy
wears a tuxedo and measures 30" long. His head is made of
hard vinyl. Mortimer Snerd, also 30" long with vinyl head,
wears a checked suit. They are both in working order and in very
nice condition.
